Shenzhen advances to Chinese women's volleyball league semis

Shenzhen overcame Jiangsu in full sets to reach the semifinals of the Chinese Women's Volleyball Super League for the first time on Saturday.

Shenzhen secured

its semifinal spot with a 31-29, 9-25, 24-26, 25-20 and 15-11 victory over the young Jiangsu side. Spikers Sara Klisura and Odina Aliyeva combined for 49 points for Shenzhen.

Shenzhen will vie for a final berth with Shanghai, while Tianjin and Fujian will face off in the other semifinal which kicks off next Monday.

In the men's league semifinals, Beijing beat Shandong 25-18, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-22 to sweep the latter in the best-of-three series. Beijing spiker Yosvany Hernandez had a game-high 20 points.

Shanghai downed Zhejiang 25-22, 25-23 and 25-20 to level the series at 1-1, and both sides will meet in the decider on Sunday.
