Zhejiang FC routed Wuhan Yangtze River 4-0 to secure the third place in the 2022 season of the Chinese Super League (CSL) which concluded on
Wuhan Three Towns had claimed the title on Friday, ahead of the defending champions Shandong Taishan on goal difference. Hebei FC, Guangzhou FC and Wuhan Yangtze River, the bottom three ranked sides, will be relegated into the second-tier league next season.
Donovan Ewolo latched onto Yao Junsheng's cross to put Zhejiang ahead in the 13th minute, and Yao doubled their lead nine minutes later. Nyasha Mushekwi, 35, unleashed a volley into the top corner in the 35th minute to effectively seal Zhejiang's win in the first half.
Brazilian striker Matheus capped Zhejiang's scoring fest in the 84th minute.
With Saturday's victory, Zhejiang ended in third with 65 points and will return to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League after 12 years.
Also on Saturday, Shanghai Port smashed Changchun Yatai 4-0, while Chengdu Rongcheng thrashed Dalian Pro 3-0. Shanghai and Chengdu finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Wuhan Three Towns striker Marcao won the Golden Boot with 27 goals in 26 games. Zhang Yuning scored 19 goals overall for Beijing Guoan, becoming the top domestic goalscorer for the second consecutive season.
