China's public security authorities cracked over 3,500 cyberbullying cases in the first half of 2024, said the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on Saturday.

This came as the result of a

nationwide anti-cyberbullying campaign to crack down on illegal activities such as online slandering, vilification and privacy breaching, which was launched by the MPS at the start of 2024.

During the campaign, public security authorities have kept a close eye on prominent issues of public concern, released anti-cyberbullying regulations with relevant departments, and enforced strict punishments on illegal online accounts, institutions and platforms.

The MPS pledged further efforts to crack down on cyberbullying activities and root out their breeding environment.
