CBA: Nanjing smash Fujian, Tianjin skid continues

The 14th round of the 2022-23 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) regular season saw blowouts on Saturday, as the Beijing Ducks smashed the Tianjin Pioneers 107-80,

while the Nanjing Monkey Kings thrashed the Fujian Sturgeons 140-103.

The Ducks implemented their standard team basketball concept, and six of them scored in double digits. Zeng Fanbo, who has been as a strong contestant for Rookie of the Year, scored a team-high 16 points.

Lin Tingqian notched up a game-high 20 points for the Pioneers, who extended their nine-game losing streak.

Elsewhere, Lual Acuil and Quentin Peterson each took 36 points to gift the Monkey Kings an easy win against Fujian.

On Fujian's side, Thon Maker scored 24 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, and Chen Linjian added 26 points. Former NBA player Sean Kilpatrick still seemed to be struggling to adapt to the Chinese league, scoring just five points in his 14 minutes on court.

Fujian head coach Zhu Shilong vented his disappointment in the post-game conference, stating it was the "most shameful game" they had played this season.

"We didn't prepare well, and injuries shouldn't be our excuses," Zhu said.

Also on Saturday, the Zhejiang Golden Bulls trounced the Liaoning Flying Leopards 102-60 to remain unbeaten, while the Shenzhen Aviators beat the Xinjiang Flying Tigers 96-88.
