Police launch investigations after man shot dead in Sydney

Investigations are underway after a man was fatally shot in Sydney's west on Sunday, according to Australia's New South Wales (NSW) Police Force.

Police said

in a statement that emergency services were called to Factory Street in Granville, a suburb located about 20 kilometers west of Sydney's central business district, just before 4:30 p.m. local time, following reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering a gunshot wound. He received treatment from paramedics but died at the scene.

Police noted that the victim is believed to be in his 40s, whose identity remains to be formally confirmed.

A crime scene has been established, with investigations continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
