Hong Kong will continue to actively collaborate with Shenzhen to promote the advantages of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone under the principle of "one zone, two
parks" underpinned by the "one country, two systems" principle.
John Lee, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), made the remarks on Monday at a financial forum held by Sing Tao News Corporation Limited.
Hong Kong will support the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) international innovation and technology center, and build an international innovation talent port for the GBA, according to Lee at the forum.
Under the principle of "one country, two systems," Hong Kong enjoys the unique advantage of enjoying strong support of the motherland and being closely connected to the world, Lee noted.
He said that the HKSAR government is making every effort to promote Hong Kong's integration into the overall national development and to contribute to the construction of the GBA in the fields of finance, commerce, shipping and professional services.
The forum, featuring themes including "China's Macro Economy" and "Hong Kong's Integration with the Greater Bay Area", gathered people from all walks of life in Hong Kong to discuss the opportunities for coordinated economic development of the GBA. More than 280 people attended the forum.
