CBA: Shanghai extend win streak, Guangdong stun Liaoning

The Shanghai Sharks defeated the Guangzhou Loong Lions 98-92 on Wednesday in the 2022-23 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) regular season.

the first two points for Shanghai, followed by a charge of Guangzhou's Jordan Bell. The two teams were tied at 15-15 before Shanghai built a four-point lead into the second quarter.

The Loong Lions launched waves of offensives in the second period, which allowed them to overtake the lead at 54-50, while the Sharks suffered scoring trouble.

The third quarter witnessed the tenacity of the Sharks, who used an 18-10 run to regain the lead and hold it into the last 12 minutes.

In the final quarter, the Sharks held their nerves to claim the game and their fifth consecutive win.

Wang Zhelin scored 28 points and grabbed 18 rebounds for Shanghai, with Ren Junwei and Liu Zheng also scoring double-digits.

In the other fixtures on Wednesday, the Zhejiang Lions smashed the Shandong Heroes 126-101, the Shanxi Loongs edged the Xinjiang Flying Tigers 110-107, the Beijing Royal Fighters defeated the Fujian Sturgeons 116-92, the Guangdong Southern Tigers overwhelmed the Liaoning Flying Leopards 99-82, and the Jilin Northeast Tigers crushed the Sichuan Blue Whales 92-74.
