A motorbike bomb exploded close to a mosque in Maimana city, capital of northern Afghanistan's Faryab province, on Wednesday, causing no loss of life, provincial
director of information and culture Mawlawi Shamsudin Mohammad said.
"Terrorists placed explosive device in the cavities of a motorbike and the device exploded in front of Imam Abu Hanifa mosque in Maimana city at around 01:00 p.m. local time today, but fortunately left no casualties," Mohammadi told Xinhua.
Without providing more details, the official noted that the concerned authorities had begun investigations to identify the culprits and bring them to justice.
In the meantime, eyewitnesses who declined to be named said six people including three security personnel were injured in the blast.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility.
