Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang has urged the Myanmar government to crack down on telecom frauds.
During his visit to the Southeast
Asian country starting Tuesday, Qin pointed out that Myanmar's border areas have long been home to telecom fraud gangs, which have seriously infringed on the interests of Chinese citizens and are abhorred by the Chinese public.
The Chinese government attaches great importance to this issue and is determined to crack down on the crime, Qin said, stressing that China urges the Myanmar side to take practical measures and coordinate various departments to launch a joint crackdown on telecom frauds between China, Myanmar and Thailand, and rescue trapped Chinese nationals in a timely manner.
The Myanmar side said it is willing to strengthen cooperation with China's law enforcement and security departments to combat telecom frauds and other illegal activities in the border areas.
