New international transfer records set in 2024 January window

A record amount of 5,073 international transfers were made in men's and women's football during the 2024 January transfer window, FIFA announced on Tuesday.

style="text-align: left; margin-bottom: 15px;">A total of 4,716 transfers were completed in men's football, 0.6 percent higher than the amount in 2023, according to FIFA's International Transfer Snapshot.

Total spending on transfer fees hit 1.46 billion U.S. dollars in men's football, and a record expenditure of 2.1 million dollars in women's football. The league with the highest overall outlay was France's Ligue 1, whose clubs spent a total of 291.9 million U.S. dollars.

This is the fourth consecutive year that FIFA has published such a snapshot shortly after the conclusion of the international January transfer window.
