The nominations for the 25th Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony were made public in an event on Monday.

The candidates were revealed in an event at the city's Casa de Correos and attended by the President of the Madrid Region, Isabel Diaz Ayuso, the city Mayor, Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida and sporting figures such as Luis Figo, Ruud Gullit, Nawal El Moutawakel and Alessandro Del Piero.
The categories include the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year Award, with another award for Sportswomen, as well as awards for the Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability, Laureus Sport for Good Award and an award for the best team.
